Age is a matter of the mind.. Unfortunately, When one gets to around 30 + we are then put into categories. There are said to be three types of people. 1, going nowhere, 2, well-off (just about comfortable) 3, and for a few Rich! You are currently 16. That is a good learning age - make sure you do the right thing so that when you are older, you are going somewhere and not struggling. Do not wish your life away; you are only a youngster. Take care now and use your head to think wisely!! (always engage your brain before opening your mouth).

Just a moment, you said "why is everyone complaining about their age." Then you do just that, saying " 'm 16 but i would love to be in my 20's and 30's" Why are you complaining about your age? Why can't you just be happy with your age? You will age soon enough, and when you have you may consider it too soon, possibly complaining that life is cruel. Forget your age and live, enjoy what life has to offer, you will be 20 before you know it.

ha ha! I used to wonder the same thing when I was your age!
now, over 40 and thinking 50 deosn't look too scary, I think the main reason that people talk about age is that our society in general is a 'culture of youth'.
it can be scary to think about getting older. sometimes people are worried about staying attractive to their mate and someimte people are feeling like their shot at happiness depends solely upon their exterior appearance.
while most people eventually come to a peace about aging, not everyone is able or willing to reconcile themselves to the fact that they are aging.
for others, it is a too frequent reminder of impending death and no no wants to think about dying. that is a scary realization to think that so many years of your life have passed by and whether you have done anything of substance or meaning that has made a difference.
if you hear the complaining from the same people all of the time, try asking them 'why do you feel that you are getting on a bit? are you afraid that you haven't done anything in your life that is worth remembering' OR 'what have you always wanted to do or be that you never did'...
then remind them the only reason a dream dies is if they let it.

Im 26 and would love to be 16 again would you like to swap??
I know this will sound patronising but I really miss being at the age where I didnt need to worry about all the cr*p that I have to deal with now. Rent, Phone bills, sky bills, internet bills, bus fares, money for food, general living, making sure my cat and boyfriend are fed and watered etc as well as my boobs and bum heading southwards (when I was 16 I did a lot of sport and my body was rock hard).
Enjoy it while you can!!!

I agree. I don't see a problem getting older. I'm 25 and I feel like life gets better as I get older. I'm figuring out who I am, acquiring knowledge, and finding my place in the world.
I feel like I had a great role model in that respect. My Mom has NEVER cared about her age. I have never once heard her complain about it or say she wishes she were younger. I think that has a lot to do with my attitude. I would DIE if I had to be a teenager again. Ugh!

They say youth is wasted on the young. And its so true because with the things you can only know through experience you"ll always wish you knew then what you know now, because you always could have done it better. When your younger you cant wait to be older but you should think of it as. your only a child for 12 years of your life then a teenager for 7 years then how long have you got to be an adult?

I think people of all age say this.... it's the idea that if we could be that age again... things would be different or we would deal with major events differently and therefore avoid hardships and heartbreak... wishful thinking... I guess we should just be happy where we are.
Luckily most people get wiser with age.... well some do ... LOL

Yes, fair question I suppose, but I'm not sure about the 'complaining' bit?
What I have noticed is that youngsters usually say they are older than they actually are, middle aged usually say they are younger than they are, and then you have the really old far*s like myself who actually say they are older than they are, so that people can gasp and say "Well I'm amazed, you dont look that old"!!!
Just as a matter of interest I am quite happy being an old fa*t and really dont care what you young folk think about it!
Yes I am a typical old fa*t.
I was in Florida 1986 doing the tourist bit and bought a couple of base ball caps, mine had 'Old Fa*t' emblazoned on the front, my wifes had 'Old Fa*ts Wife' written on the front of hers! we thought it was a great crack and the holiday makers were also laughing!
Then they say Amricans have no sense of humor? Not true!
