i recently gave my friend in Egypt, who is also of Muslim faith a gift...before this i had a hard time convincing him that i "must" give this to him as a token of our "BEST" friendship between one another. He said to me he has a hard time accepting gifts. When i asked him why he would only say because he could not give me something in return. Since getting it he has acted very strangely. The place he recieved he gift was his hometown address. Now he is at a new town where he is working. He will NOT give me that address to where he is staying and i think ,(know), it is out of fear i will send him "items",(gifts in his mind), and he seeminly does not like this idea. Plz is there something in the Muslim religion that prohibits the act of "gift giving"? thx

Just tell him that you know what he's thinking and tell him not to worry.

Basically, Muslims aren't suppose to have contact with members of the opposite sex outside what is unavoidable. For example, I work in a hospital where the permanent people there are women (Doctors rotate out). I still have to talk with them, but I make it point to keep it professional and succinct. And during Christmas, they give gifts, which I accept so as not to be rude (they KNOW I'm Muslim and don't celebrate non Muslim holidays). You have to respect his wishes because he's made it clear to you he doesn't want to exchange gifts. This deen is hard sometimes. I just hope what I've sent you helps you.

Gift giving in Islam is allowed. Muslims can accept gifts from Muslims, Christians and Jews. Did you give the gift on a Muslim holiday? Muslims also give gifts. It's ok. Perhaps he just doesn't want to pursue anything or he doesn't know that gift giving is allowed or maybe he personally has no care for it.

Islam does not forbid giving gifts. It actually encourages it, especially during the holidays. Maybe your friend is uncomfortable recieving gifts. Hope this helps!

Prophet Mohammed encouraged people to give gifts as this will spread love between them & at the same time the one recieving the gift shouldn't reject it for no reason.
The best thing you can do is ask your friend about his actions,

I think he just thinks that since he has recieved a gift, he has to give you one back and is there fore in debt to you. But perhaps gift giving is only allowed during 'Id, but I havent read anything in the Quran about this. I guess its just an Egyptian thing.

in case you rather desire to supply her a present, for the main superb motives, then deliver her a small present which you have placed distinctive theory into or some small something she probably does no longer purchase herself. mail her a present certificates--for dessert at her favourite resturant. a pedicure. i does no longer settle for a present from somebody I in elementary terms knew casually that replace into greater suitable than approximately $20. To me, from now on than that means that i'm drawn to greater suitable than our cutting-edge courting. i don't be attentive to if she has the comparable scruples on that. A small considerate present from an casual pal may be proper to maximum women folk people i be attentive to.
