Hi, In the May issue of Dog Fancy on pg. 61 there is a natural tip for dogs with diarrhea it says that "pureed pumpkin is an incredibly effective anti-diahrreal, and you should have a couple cans on hand just in case. Not the "PUMPKIN-PIE MIX" which has sugar and spices--you want plain pumkin. Add a teaspoon or two of fiber rich pumkin to his food or feeding it straight from the can--most dogs love it-- can soon bring the runs to a stand still. Also try on the herbal front, slippery-elm. It is a tried and true remedy for soothing the digestive tract. It is available as a tincture and aside from rare alergic reactions it is considered to be safe for use in animals." Quote from the issue of Dog Fancy listed above. Also ginger has stomach settling properties...see link below.

Well tell me something was pepto made for dogs or humans. There is your answer. Call your vet he will tell you what to do. You should bring her in for a consultation. It could be her food, could be lots of things, best thing to do is bring her to a vet and not ask for medical advice here, people can sometimes be rude and most don't have the experience to give the right answer. White rice with a little hamburger meat will stop the diarrhea. Good luck to you and pup! :)

It is my understanding that you should never give anyone, canine or human, an anti-diarrheal without first knowing what is causing the diarrhea. I attached a website on using this medication on dogs and it says it's okay for MILD cases, but this doesn't sound like a mild case to me.
An appointment with your vet would be most prudent. You don't want the dog to get dehydrated. Especially with puppies.

Yes, you can give her a little pepto, but still call the Vet. My vet told me that I could give pepto to my dog once, but that was several years ago. I would also make some white rice to feed her.
You might still want to take her to the vet, b/c she may have picked up some virus, e.g. parvo, which you want to get treated right away. Or she may have swallowed part of a ball or toy. All in all, better be safe than sorry and take her to the vet.

aww poor baby, first of all you shouldn't give it because its for humans and isn't tested for dogs. The best thing to do is go to vet to prescribe an antibiotic for dogs. If you cant go to the vet im sure there is medicine for stomach cramps that you can get at your local pet store. Just make sure the pet store dosn't sell animals that come from puppy mills ;(

Do not give the puppy pepto bismol. Withhold food and see if the stool solidifies. If it doesn't after a day call the vet.

Something good for dog or puppy "stomach upset" and diarrhea is PUMPKIN PIE FILLING. This is sold in grocery stores and comes in a can. Its natural, it's cheap and it is very effective. Of course, run this by your Vet first. Also, you can add Pedialyte to your dogs water to keep her from dehydrating.
I have used the Pumpkin Pie Filling for my dogs, especially for one who gets a touch of diarrhea when she comes back from the dog park at times.

NO. If you can't afford to take him/her to the vet just call one up and ask. Your pet doesn't have to be a patient for them to give you advice. Use the internet to find any additional info you can use. If you haven't vaccinated your puppy, it could have parvo or some other deadly illness.

Take her to a vet, don't treat those symptoms at home. What are you feeding her? I'm referring to the recent recall of pet foods. Good Luck

GOD NO!!! Don't do that! Little kids aren't even supposed to have that. Go to a vet! She may have some type of parasite or internal blockage.
