well i am trying the portion control diet and just cut back on what i eat in a days time. im not very good at limiting myself to cooking in small amounts, so do you think i will lose weight if i eat the lean cuisine meals and other meals such as those that are prepackaged? or should i stick with cooking food for myself and just try to cut back a little.

Personally, I wouldn't eat Lean Cuisines every day. Every now and then is fine, but they're loaded with salt and preservatives...Plus, I've found that when I cook for myself I am able to eat larger portions for the same number of calories as those Lean Cuisines.

I understand how you feel though. I have the same problem where portion control is concerned. Why not pick up a low fat or other "healthy" cookbook at your local bookstore? They'd already have taken portions into consideration.

Good luck!

You should still try to cook for yourself in smaller portions. Frozen meals (lean cuisine etc...) offer a great variety but can also be high in sodium. If you are truly trying to commit to a lifestyle change you need to start cooking your own food. Invest in a variety of spices and experiment to keep your food appealing to you. Do some research and keep a couple of the frozen dinners around for the emergency when you do not have the time to prepare your own meal.

good luck!

There is a way to cook in larger quantities and control the portions you eat. I would suggest you get a few French Kilner glass jars for preserving. After you finished kooking, fill the jars with appropriate food portions and close. Cooked food stored in these jars lasts in your fridge up to one month, so you can open one jar at a time and enjoy unfrozen homemade delicious food anytime you want. Just reheat and enjoy.
I have a second fridge in the basement for storage of the jars filled with different meals so everyone has a choice of food they like in appropriate portions.

You will lose weight eating the lean cuisine meals but it can get expensive and boring. I eat all my meals on a saucer instead of using a regular size plate and I'm satisfied. At first it's hard but then you get used to it and you can make the foods that you love. Just make sure to only serve yourself on the saucer and you'll be fine. I've already lost a lot of weight just changing that.

Yes, I think that would work. You might consider adding a salad to the prepackaged meals, but this should work for you.

Good luck.
