hi, i am panning to move to sharjah and want to take my 2-year-old boxer with me. i live in Turkey at the moment and does anybody know what kind of documents i should get to take it with me? i havent asked the airline company yet. one more thing, i ve heard that dogs arent allowed in the apartments. is that true? if so, where could i find a dog friendly villa or house? i would be grateful if somebody gives some advice.

Many apartments do not allow dogs because they bark and can annoy other residents. Many airlines will allow you to take your pets. You have to get a Airline certified carrier that can cost around 150 US dollars. continental airlines has the best pet program, called petsafe. Make sure that airline allows it. You will also have to get paperworks to immigrate your pet and you will have to get ait a checkup at the vet before you depart. If you want to figure out more, go to www.continental.com and there are blu bars at the top of the window and there will be a bar with "travel information" at the top and select travelling with animals. It has all the info you need

I know that in the United states you are required to have a copy of Updated Vaccinations and a copy of the dogs licence. I don't know if you have to have those things or not but you should check. They want to know if your animal is safe and not sick when traveling. The crate that you use for his transport should just be large enough for him to stand and turn around and sit back down. The less room , the more secure he will feel. a small amt of food and possably a water bottle attached to the side of the crate for him may be an option too. depending on the length of the flight.
I would speak to your Dogs Vet ( Doctor) about sedatives.
Some dogs travel better when slightly sedated.
Good luck.

it's okay to have dogs in apartments in dubai... i'm not too sure about sharjah - they have weird shariah laws there... if it's against the Quran to have dogs (and i really think it is) then you might face a problem...
a friend of mine had to take her pup on a flight too - the airline had asked her to bring a strong cage and slip the dog a mild sedative so that he didnt overexcite himself
