I know anytime after the 1st of Jan. but my situation is kinda unique. I owe another instituition money and cannot apply at the community college i am hoping to attend (because the university i went 2 earlier will not release my transcript until they are paid). They will be paid off by December 07 and i will enroll at the community college spring 08, so should i wait until january 08 to apply for finacial aid or apply now for spring 08?

It may be in your best interest to visit a bank and apply for a low interest student loan that is repaid after you graduate or stop attending for more than a 6 month period. If awarded a student loan, you could repay your debt to the institution and have your information released to the other institution.

Have you spoken with an attorney about whatever situations prompted this unique problem? The student loan money may be used for academic purposes as desired even for a vehicle if you matriculate. Whereas, a federal and/or state grant must be used for courses and or books.

Use the link below (2nd source) to file for a federal PELL grant online...and learn more about the grant at the first source shown below...

Also, since your reason for being in your particular situation is unclear...I suggest that you take some time to consider if you are attending college because you desire the degree or if you feel social pressure to attend due to your age. If you can find some work in the area that you are focusing in, it would be a great time to invest some real time into your career by learning of the field and gain some work experience before continuing to invest money into a area that may not be as great as it sounds on paper.
