The term "bake" is used when talking about an indirect-heat cooking method, meaning the heat source is not in direct physical contact with the food (cookies in this case).

Cooking means: adding heat to food - So to say "cook bacon" is a rather general term and does not specify a cooking method.

You could fry bacon (direct-heat) or bake bacon (indirect-heat)

And yes I suppose you could fry cookies...if you wanted to.

Because it describes the way you prepare it. Cookies get baked in an oven but you don't bake bacon. You fry, cook, boil, etc. bacon.

because cookies go in the oven to bake and bacon is on the stove top to cook, I guess you could bake bacon if you put it in the oven.

Cause mm...when you bake it's in the oven, you can't bake on the burners, and when you cook bacon, you can do it several ways, nuke it, fry it, and usually when u bake, something has to rise... bacon sizzles, like a steak, you cook a steak grill it, fry it up, whatever you don't bake it...
