The RNI (reference nutrient intake - the amount needed to stop you getting sick) for vitamin C is 60mg a day.
Having too little vitamin C is more likely to give you ulcers than too much. The main purpose of vitamin c in the body is the manufacture of collagen - which is what your mouth is made out of! Ulcers are also an early sign of scurvy - a vit c deficiency disease.
Vitamin C is one of the less toxic substances known to man. You have to take huge synthetic doses before you take too much, and then it will cause a stomach upset.
Eating too many citrus fruits might aggrevate mouth ulcers, however, because they are very acidic.

Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin so basically if you ingest too much it will just pass out in your urine. Unless you are holding the vitamin c tablets against the side of your mouth i cant see why they'd cause ulcers. If you have been holding tablets in mouth perhaps try soluble ones.

Recent reports have questioned the whole area of vitamins and mineral tablets and capsules. The outcome of these reports was that in virtually all cases the use of vitamin was unnecessary and health could be impaired by long term use. Whether they would cause ulcers I am not sure but it is possible.

Vitamin C is a water soluable vitamin, so it does not accumulate. If you take more that your RDA (recommended daily amount) it gives you no additional benefit. (RDA) stands now at 75 - 90 mg per day for adults.Oxidative damage (DNA mutations) attributed to taking Vitamin C in excess of 500 mg
per day had many people step back and reconsider their supplemental routines.
