I don't believe that it does aid in weight loss.

Everyone is different. I have trouble keeping my weight down when I eat dairy products; so does my brother. I am not saying this is the same for all, but we both know that this happens with us. We are both older adults, so this is not something we were told at home as children.

I also know a woman who found out she had diabetes. She does not eat a lot of sugar. The only change she made in her diet was to stop drinking milk. She lost about 10 pounds and her blood sugar numbers are great.

I think the key here is dairy's protien factor, which may help with muscle mass.
I don't believe that dairy foods will help "melt away" the fat, as some yogurt commercials may have you believe. Those studies were conducted using a calorie-counting diet including low-fat dairy products. Any low-cal diet would have the same basic effect.

Really, any company, including the dairy council, will do anything to push product. You may want to experiment by adding low-fat milk or cottage cheese after a workout. See if it helps you or not, everyone is different.
Good luck!

Dairy doesn't aid in weight loss.

Humans should not drink cows milk at all. It's not meant for humans--it's meant for baby cows. I mean, would cows drink human milk? Of course not.

Try soy or rice milk. Much better for you and does not contain antibiotics and hormones like cows milk does.
