Does it hurt to get a tattoo on a scar??

well the scars are from an infection i had in my leg that they doctor had to make to relase the pressure. ONe of the scars is raised it feels like a bump the other ones are behind my knee.

i got one to cover up a gash didnt hurt more than my others but it did hurt it and none of my clients have complained its your pain tollerance but ussualy scar tissue is harder to tattoo for me anyways just find a really good artist you'll be fine you will have pain but you'll be okay

Most scar tissue has disrupted nerve endings, so for me, no. Others claim they are more sensitive.
You really need to contemplate having a tattoo over a scar. It depends on the age and the type of scar if it will even hold its image/color. If the scar distorts, so will your tattoo.

it would probably hurt because a scar is a very tender area.....my brother has a scar on his hand..and if he bangs it the wrong way he still sees scars and that was about 6 years ago...so maybe you should just wait a little while than see...also consult with the person that is doing the tattoo if they recommend it

Yes, it does. I have a tattoo that is about two years old that is getting covered up with another. When the tattoo needle grazes over that older tattoo, the pain shoots up and down my spine like crazy.
Any tattoo artist will tell you it's gonna hurt.

depending on the kind of scar. Some will hurt alot.
There are places that wouldn't even do the tatoo on the scar.

yeah...actually it kinda does from what I hear..and some shops won't do it. call your higher end shops and ask if they would do it..just cause you find some place that will do it doesnt mean you should do it. listen to what the experts say.

will i do not thing this a good ideal to get one because when you get old it will be looking ugly and you are going to ask your self why did i get one for. and yes it do hurt.
