No, I have heard that religions were made for the poor, as something to hold onto.
But I personally agree with neither. Religion was formed to answer life's unanswerable/ultimate questions such as, Where did we come from? Where are we going? Why are we here?.

It's more like religion was made for the poor but co-opted by the rich. At its most fundamental level, religion develops as a way for helpless people to deal with the incomprehensible, uncontrollable forces around them, whether it be the weather or the economy. By developing myths and rituals, people make the universe comprehensible and reduce anxiety by developing ways to communicate with and appeases the forces they can't control.
People with wealth and influence have more resources to either protect themselves or recover from such dangers. They don't need all the prayer and ritual. However they do need the good will, or at least the distraction, of the poor and marginalized people who greatly outnumber them. So they play along and even tweak the basic faith to their advantage, selling the idea that wealth is a sign of divine favor, or turning the focus of religion from social justice to personal morality. (A poor person can't spare the time to pursue a complaint against a water-hogging rich neighbor if he's worried that God doesn't approve of the way he's arranged his shrine.)
So the short answer is: Yes, eventually.

No, religion was made for everyone. It has warped into a system that seems to favor the rich, but really in the eyes of the Divine, we're all equal. It's a matter of the faith you put into your offerings, whether they be prayers, flowers, fruit, or whatever. You can offer an orchard with pride, or a flower petal with faith, and He probably would accept the latter over the former.

Made FOR the rich? No. By the rich? Actually, history bears that out. You can take it a couple of ways- it may be that religions need seed money to get going, or that the rich do it for social control, but they are mostly BY the rich FOR everyone else.
It may even be rich=having enough time to go off and seek enlightenment.
(Even Wicca, hun. Wicca was started by upper-class white men and promoted by upper-class white women.)

A lot gets back to indulgences, that only the rich could afford.
Also, think about a church, as to how ornate and marvelous they are. The poor can't afford that

No I do not believe that statement at all.
James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Jesus said in Matthew 26:11 For ye have the poor always with you; ...
And in Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. Here Jesus reproved a rich man because he loved the things he had and was greedy and did not want to help the poor.
Luke 4:18 Jesus talked about his gospel being preached to the poor. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luke 14: 12Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
13But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
14And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
Those are a few scriptures in the Bible that should refute any notion religion is for the rich.

I agree. Religions are made for the Rich by the ones who want to become richer. Most religions are false, for they follow Traditions of Man (which is to make money). Christmas is a pagan holiday but most Christians observe it even though Jesus himself told us not to celebrate his Birth, but to remember his Death. Why celebrate it then? Money. Wrap it in shiny x-mas paper and lights, it is still a money making machine. Ever since the council of Nicea and the takeover of the Christian faith by Catholics, there hasn't been one religion that followed Jesus's commandments. It's sad, but I believe that they are out there, the true ones, who don't believe in money, but believe in God. I only have to find them.

Yes, Religion is made for the rich because it involves a lot of politics which needs a lot of money. But richness in Christianity is humility of heart and attitude in all things at all times and condition.

No, I don't agree with it - there is a verse in the bible that says the poor you shall have among you always. If there are poor people always they can still be part of a religion - don't you think? If you don't have to give financially, you can give in others ways.
