So recently I have been on a quest to find a christian based (as that was my upbringing...I know I must be insane)church that we can attend occasionally for my children......I have spoken to many pastors, priests, ect........No one will talk to me about their church and their belief system, they are only interested in talking to me about my speech impediment.
My question is....these men of God have the chance to "save another little soul", so why can't they just let the whole speech impediment thing go...I don't need fixed, I'm not looking for their help (not that they could), I've even had one who wanted to hold a prayer vigel for my speech impediment......
I guess it's my own stupidity... Did I just open myself up there??

my kids are small..3, 3, 4. Starting to ask questions I can not answer honestly. I will not tell my 4 year old Im not sure, but I really don't think God exists. Thats a bit much for him to get.....I want to give them the information I was brought up with then let them decide when they are able.

So, these men of the cloth actually MISSED the opportunity to share with you their beliefs? I am embarrassed that such a thing can happen. Maybe just start going to the demomination you grew up with. It's familiar. I mean Sunday morning, you and your just show up and take a seat. And the next Sunday ( if the first wasn't quite right, You all walt into a different church, til you find one that fits you. Ypu'll know.
My family did just that.
And good luck

Churches vary from town to town, pastor to pastor, congregation, region, etc, but your best bet is a mainstream Protestant Church like Lutheran, Methodist, or Presbyterian (mine) with a youngish congregation, lots of music, and a humble clergy. Ask if the church is involved in the Ecumenical Movement, (way cool) and ask if they are politically active. (Not cool)

You could start by getting a good children's bible story book for them to read or for you to read to them. (I don't think your children care or notice you have a speech problem.)

Start there and as your children grow and express more interest, you could get more biblical materials for them to read. You could also send them to a vacation bible school locally in your area in the summer. They would attend a few hours each day and get more exposure to Christianity.

Take them to a Unitarian Church. They can learn about different religions there and over time they can make up their own minds.

Why do you want them to go to church? Tell them about religion, see if they are interested take them to the ones they are interested in. Don't force anything on them.
