There are quite a few fine dining places in the KC area. I don't like to eat too fancy - but these are a few of the places my husband and I go to often...we like all kinds of food (but not too big on seafood).
Houlihans, On the Border, Chilis, Outback Steakhouse, Cactus Grill (Lee's Summit)
Cheesecake Factory (Plaza)
Zios, Macaroni Grill (Independence)
Jack Stack BBQ (Crown Center)
There are alot more, I just can't think of all of them...Hope that helps!

As usual, it depends on what type of food you're looking for. I would have to agree that one of my favorite restaurants is the Savoy. It's a wonderful restaurant and very historic.
Another one of the best restaurants in town is the American across from Crown Center. The American has one advantage...it is right across from Crown Center so you can go for an early dinner and then go see live theatre at the Heartland in Crown Center.
Both restaurants have WONDERFUL food. Savoy for seafood and the American for....you guessed it....American.
Enjoy!!

You can't go wrong with Lidia's. Pierponts at Union Station is also very good.
