Yes I think they have more inner peace and a purpose in life. It has been proven in studies that religious people have longer life spans, you would also notice that the older people get they tend to get more religious as they become aware of their limited life spans, they become more humble and are not as arrogant as the young who do not have time for reflection.

Yeah i kinda believe they do. I'm not highly religious but i believe in God. And i have also gone through a period when i hated him, long story short my Dad got beat up so bad he's mentally and physically disabled. God makes you feel good when you actually believe in him. Nobody can force anyone else to. It's a personal thing. At the same time, when i was an Atheist i would have said it's better being an Atheist, the only difference is i was in a bad state of mind then through hate. Religion shouldn't be forced, it should be a choice.

Hmm good question. In a way religious people are happier then athiests because they don't have to worry as much as athiests about dieing especially older people its like comfort, I lost my mum in septemeber and I was a atheist I had nothing, I found God a few months later and I am now happy before I wasnt. I'm not going to sit here and say all religious people are happy because obviouslly they cant be some are depressed and so on just as much as some athiests are, it's just mroe of a comfort really knowing we have a God.

recently I read an article that proposed the idea that some people are better at, or more likley to belive in something(god, bhudda, shinto ancestors watching over us etc) than others.

It's almost like the majority of us are programmed to believe in something almost like a safety net guarding us from loosing sanity at the prospect that there isn't(maybe) anything after this life. It opened the discussion that the belief of a deity is programmed into us, a god gene if you like...

All races of humans, tribes etc, generally hold a belief in sone concept of an afterlife with a big omnipotent being looking down on them.
I think this is good evidence of the God Gene hypothesis, however, there are those who do not belive at all. My father on his death bed was happy to tell a priest to 'bugger off'. I am not so sure I will be that brave...

Happy if you are god fearing/religious? I don't know. Given my generally unholy existence i guese I should be pooing my pants at the prosect of meeting big G.

But then again, he created me, it's his fault!

I've known some believers who seem happier and at peace with themselves, but it worked the other way around for me. I'm much happier and at peace with myself now than I was when I called myself a believer.

No probably not. Because people that are just religious are missing the true power as well. People confuse religion with relationship. To truly have joy and salvation one must have a Relationship with Jesus. Religion is nothing more than the traditions and customs of a specific belief system.

Hard to say, unlike atheists, the religious believe that their choices and actions will have personal consequences for themselves that extend past death. But the religious, particularly Christians believe that God will help and support them during their life.

Although I'm not an Atheist, but Atheists do have self-peace. They have family, friends, beloved ones, jobs, money, entertainment and many other things to give them peace.

It depends on each person, some of us feel far happier with our knowledge of God, some prefer to live with out it,. but it truth if your happy with yourself then you are at peace.

Love & Peace

No I dont think they are, because religious people are always trying to force their beliefs down peoples throats. They are constantly telling non religious people that their way is the wrong way. Instead of preaching to others, keep your beliefs to yourself and just spread love instead of preaching from the pulpits to all. They are always stressed trying to turn others towards their own ways.
