I was in the Military during Desert Shield/Storm. Pack him small items till you get his address to where ever he is deployed to, then you can send him other stuff. Make him a carry on bag of, books to read on the plane and lay overs, some snacks, not chocolate it melts, some cards, so him and the other guys can have something to do. Remember to write him all the time. That is the best gift, is getting a letter from home.

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it more of a homemade feeling.

A package of goods that he can use while he is on deployment.
Some food and snacks, maybe some magazines/cd's/movies/a dvd player.
Something that will entertain him while he needs something to do.
Maybe even something simpler like a hand made photo album for him with pictured of his family.
He will appreciate anything that will help make his deployment a bit better.

Depending on where he is being deployed to, you may also want to think about ChapStick, hand lotions, insect repellant, waterless personal wipes, gum, playing cards, non-chocolate goodies, instant coffee/creamer, tea bags (if he is a tea drinker)....not to mention stationery, POSTAGE paid envelopes, some photos, a cd you create with his favorite songs, a diary to keep notes in, pens, pencils; think stocking stuffers and maybe even toss in some hand held games, etc.....our prayers are with you both...which reminds me to remind you to get involved with a military wife/family support group tp help you with your questions and concerns while he is deployed.
