This is the most common question asked because Hawaii is a chain of islands in the middle of the pacific ocean and need a plane to get here but no you do not need a passport to fly to Hawaii. Hawaii is the 50th state and therefore no passport is needed when traveling within the country. Although I say it is not needed you can use your passport as identification at the airports within the US (including Hawaii) even traveling within the US. It is not required but you can use it for purely ID purposing.

We should keep count on how many times this question is asked... You do not need a passport to fly to Hawaii if your flight originates in the US.

FYI, Hawaii is the fiftieth state in these United States. It has been a state since 1959.

Because it is the 50th state, you as an American, do not need a passport to go to Hawaii. However, you'll have to fly and all airlines post-9/11 require picture IDs of some sort.

If you're leaving from the continous 48 states and flying to Hawaii (which we all know is part of the US) and don't plan on going to Mexico or Canada then you won't need a passport.
