Which destination is more interesting and why?

I've been considering a visit to Marrakech and also Casablanca recently. There are some good deals from the UK at the moment.

No idea where Marrakesh is but I have been to Istanbul and would not give you fifty cents for the place! Oh yes, there is much to see in palaces and such, the great market place, but beware! They are muslims who DO NOT LIKE AMERICANS, and are notorious for criminal acts against foreigners! I had an attempt when I was there but he did not pursue his mind set when I confronted him with resistance!

hated Istanbul dirty & full of beggars
ok if you are just going as a tourist on sight seeing tours but if not avoid

Marrakech...because my friend lives there and she's shown me soo many nice pictures of the place (beautiful scenery)...worth visiting...cheap markets as well....
