She might prefer the toilet because the water is always cold and fresh. Try putting ice cubes in her dish or get her one of those cat water fountains that keep the water moving.

Slam the lid on her head while she's drinking. Just joking there!
My wife has 3 cats that love to play in the toilet water, then when you go to sit and do your thing it's full of cat litter and toilet water.
Other than keeping the cats out of the bathroom and/or making sure the lid is down, (yes, I'm a guy and I DO put the lid down!), I have yet to find a permanent solution. One thing I know for sure, cats are VERY stubborn.

Keep The Toilet Seat Down. Thats What I Do In Case She Does It.

Why is this a problem? It's better that your cat drink from the Big White Bowl than no bowl at all! My cat will prefer the toilet even if I leave a crystal bowl of Evian water by her food dish. Let your cat do what she wants - it's not harming anything!

Close the lid to the toilet or the bathroom door.

If she drinks from your cup, pick her up and place her at her water dish. After a few days, she will get it.

Sorry to hear of your problem. I'm also sorry to say that it makes me laugh. Like everyone else has said, ...... keep the lid closed on your throne. Or, close the door to the privy when you're not using it.

Keep the cat's water dish clean and filled with fresh water. Don't let her/him drink from your cup ..... if that really bothers you.

Problem is ..... YOU have to train your cat, not the other way around.

if you dont want to close the lid, or you forget.... you could try a squird bottle with water.... when you catch her drinking out of it, one quick squirt will send her off. But dont drench her or anything.

Just make sure she always has some other way of getting water that she knows about... like set her in front of her bowl so that she sees it and will remember its there when she is thirsty.

I agree about putting the lid down. As far as getting her to drink from her own bowl...my cat also likes to drink from my cup (although he usually drinks from his bowl). Sometimes if I am drinking bottled water I pour some of the water from the bottle in the cap and he drinks it from the cap. He likes it because he sees me drink from the bottle of water. Maybe try that with your cat and always put the cap in the same spot. Once your cat gets used to drinking from the cap of the water bottle in the same spot, try putting the bowl there.
