A serum will give your hair a smooth finish and help eliminate frizz. Also make your hair shiny. You can use it either before or after applying mousse or gel, or if your hair is really thick/frizzy you can apply it on dry hair. There are tons on the market, John Frieda makes some (Frizzease). You should have no problem finding one at your local drugstore or Walmart.

serum is used if you are straightening or curling your hair. it protects your hair from the hot irons
