I am buying a Leupold VX-III scope from Cabela's for my .30/06. It has a 40 mm Objective Diameter. I am thirteen want to mount the scope as low as possible so I can see through the scope while my cheek is resting on the comb. How high of a scope mounting ring should I buy? The sizes are super low, low, medium, high, and super high.

To be completely honest with you, it would depend on the rifle model itself. More than likely you will need high rings, however some rifles like the browning line have high recievers which allow lower mounts. Chances are you will be needing high rings for 40mm-50mm and super high for 50mm+. Ofcourse using high mounts instead of med would only raise the scope around an 1/8 of an inch. Theres no way that will make or break you in the scope to eye line.
Good Luck, nice choice of scope by the way !!!!!!!!!!!

Call Cabelas, the ring/mount manufacturer (I bet leupold can tell you everything about which of their rings you need to use) or the rifle manufacturer.
40mm is pretty much a standard objective diameter, if you want to mount something low you are going to need a smaller objective lens, otherwise the bell of the scop will contact the barrel. I'm guessing you'll need medium, but I'm in the fortunate position of being able to buy both and have spare sets of rings lying around to try out.
By the way, your head isn't going to be much different in size from a fully grown adult, so there's not going to be that much difference. However, you are absolutely right to want a low mount, but you may need to use a 32mm scope to get it down there. For my hunting gun I'm going with a 4 or 6x32 mounted as low as I can, I've used up to 24x and 56mm objectives and I'm done with that silliness.

No way to tell without photos, but sounds like you have the wrong scope rings. Rimfire scope dovetails are smaller than standard centerfire rifle mounts. Wanting to mount a long range scope on a BB gun is very odd.

General rule is medium rings for 40mm scopes. That will get it as low as possible on most rifles without heavy barrels.
I would recomment a 1 piece Weaver base and Burris Signature ZEE rings. Cabela's doesn't offer the Burris rings but it would be worth it to buy them elsewhere.
The rings come with self-centering plastic inserts so that your scope won't get scratched or get "ring marks". (That's a plus to me if I'm getting a nice Leupold VX-III) The inserts also eliminate all stress and bending of the scope caused by slight imperfections in ring alignment. I know a lot of people who love these rings. Well worth the $30.
If you get them, make sure they are the "Signature" ZEE rings to get the inserts. And the ZEE means weaver style. I think you can also get Signature rings with the inserts for dovetails and other styles. (I think)

I agree with J.P.
Definately should call Cabela's and ask for some technical assistance. They may actually refer you to the company that made the scope mounts for them. If the technical assistance person asks you for what make and model firearm you are mounting the scope to, there is a good chance the size scope mount they suggest will fit correctly.

Low mounts should do the trick (but you didn't post what rifle you have, just the caliber). Sounds like a great combo, though. It should do you well for a lifetime.

I would say low, but you might should get a parent to call the toll free number and get a sales person's opinion about the correct height.

I would use medium and make sure to Lock-tight the screws or the scope will loosen.

Just ask you salesman, tell his what you've asked us, you want the lowest mounts for your application. The mediums should do it though.
