I don't have credit either...this is because I have never had a credit card, gotten a loan or bought a car. He just needs to establish his credit.

Generally speaking, you have to use credit to gain credit. Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it?
Once you have established credit, you will be inundated with offers from credit card companies wanting to offer you credit cards.
Believe me, the longer you are without a credit score, the better off you are. Of course that's just my opinion. But buying on credit can get you into an awful mess.
I have a terrific credit score, and that's even after declaring bankruptcy ten years ago. I have managed to juggle quite well.
Don't worry too much about it.

Then this person has not been in the lending area very long. It is quite common that people who pay cash have no score. Whom ever makes the most money will be the primary borrower and your file can be manually underwritten if it is your husband.

Unless your husband has never had any loan or line of credit before, I cant see that being possible. It might be a mistake? Was the correct SS# given?

If your husband has made his purchases in cash, then there's no credit standing. I've seen this a lot with people in rural areas and service people who were always told the importance of paying your bills. Which they did.
A credit report can be created for him, using a utility bill that is in his name, cell phone bill, and lease (if in his name).

There could be a number of answers to this question. Here is the best one for you, call the bank where he applied and ask the person that pulled the credit.
They will know exactly why if you dont.

Does your husband have any credit cards? Has he ever purchased any items on credit? (Like a car, or appliances?)
If he's never used credit, there is no credit history and therefore no credit rating.
