I like vodka martinis, but many will argue that vodka in a martini glass is not a martini. Traditionally martinis are made with gin and vermouth. If you like gin try a gin martini first. Get a good brand or a brand you're familiar with. Any good bartender can help you choose.

Flavour? Martinis only come in Vodka or Gin.
If you mean all those foo-foo drinks served in Martini glasses, I guess I prefer a lemon drop or a chocotini. But, DO NOT confuse these with actual martinis.

I had never had martini before I had a "Dirty" martini. If you like olives this is the way to go. It was delicious. If you like it sweet, go for the Apple.

i would say apple because i like the way it tastes. It tastes like an apple jolly rancher, but you definately have to be careful because they will sneek up on you and then you will be under somebody bed sheets (telling you so you don't make the same mistake i did). you could add a splash of Buttershotz, changes the taste to a caramel apple.
i had tasted it my first time at my friends b-day party.
