Why do they use the word CHOCOLATE when refering to White CHOCOLATE. There is no coco in White CHOCOLATE

They use the term chocolate because it's easier to call it that and continue to sell it (chocolate has an appealling ring to it). See my first link to a chocolatier's website with the Question "Is white chocolate really chocolate").

In many countries it is actually not even legal to call it chocolate, since it doesn't contain cocoa. There are even laws here in the US as to what can be called white chocolate and the EU has adopted similar standards. Check out the second link for more details as well as other links to follow if you want to read more about it.

White chocolate does not contain any chocolate. It is derived from cocoa butter, which produces a faint chocolate flavor. The cocoa butter is blended with milk and sugar to form the creamy confection, which is used for both eating and cooking.

They really shouldn't but there are no standards set forth by the USDA concerning cocoa and chocolate. If you write to your congressman maybe things will change one day.

Because it eats like chocolate. It's like calling a tomato a veggie even though it isn't, it eats like one.
