Awe - I am so sorry the surprise is spoiled. If your mom is anything like mine, she has trouble keeping a secret and LOVES to spread good news. She was probably so excited herself that she just couldn't keep it in.

At least she didn't tell you how he was going to propose. I am sure that it will still be a very exciting time for you. Good luck!!!

wow, talk about ruining a suprise! Now, every time you go out with your boyfriend, you're going to be expected for the proposal! Your mom should definitely have NOT told you until it actually happens. I would definitely say something to her, in a calm conversation, that it bothered you that she told you. How would she feel if her mother did that to her? As for the teasing, tell her to stop. She's ruined the moment. and let her know that. As for your boyfriend, I wouldn't tell him about this. Unless your mom makes a big stink about it afterwards. But tell your boyfriend, that you weren't sure when it was going to be and that your answer would have always been yes. Good Luck and act suprised when it happens. You will have your whole future together for suprises.

That was pretty selfish of your mom, it would have made a really nice proposal story - it's unusual in this day and age for a man to ask the girl's parents (my fiance asked my mom even though I'm 36 years old! He told her he promised to be good to me and take care of my kids as if they were his own. I called my mom crying to her on the phone that I was engaged and all the while she knew exactly when it was going down but she never said a word and she new for a month).

Sweetie feel good that he thinks enough of you and your family to have asked. That has always been the proper way to do it, parents first then officially the lady in question. But traditions have fallen by the way side in recent times (for generations now).

Your mom is enjoying this and let her have her fun. After all it is you who will enjoy the rest and what's more important, her having a little fun or the rest of your life with a guy who obviously thinks the world of you?

By the way congratulations, in advance of course.

I'm just going to say what came to my mind immediatley after reading your problem, it's just plain f*cked up. What a bummer but on the bright side at least you know and can shop around for rings and since your parents want to be so involved they can show him pics of the rings that you like.

Aw, that really stinks. I'm sorry. Maybe next time she teases you just say that you know when he's going to propose too (even if you don't). And if she asks how you know, just tell her you have your sources and you can't tell her. That way she'll be wondering about something you know and she doesn't as well.

ahhh sorry sweetie! I guess no surprise. Hopefully he does something nice though! Well at least now you know you need to keep those nails beautiful and manicured cause everyone is going to be looking at that ring once you get!!!

Because your mom had to take the suprise away from you. She is likely to say it was just a joke, but it really isn't funny. My guess is that your mom has had to be the center of attention before and take it away from you. You mom can't keep secrets, doesn't want to you and likes to show you up.

AHHH! I hate when people do stuff like that, its so mean spirited.

I have no advice, but I have many sympathies for you.

I hope he asks before your head explodes!

Yea, maybe she should have kept that to herself. I experienced something similar. But maybe she just didn't want you to be surprised in case you had reservations about it.
