We were never around when she actually made the cake (she made it every year for Easter...) and somehow the instructions got lost. We aren't sure how to use it. Do you put batter in both halves or in just one and put them together.....Would like some advise from someone who has actually used one. (or who knows where I can find the info...) Thanks a lot!

I inherited my pans from my mom who got them from Her mom. so I'm a third generation lamb baker. you put the batter in one side. you need to make sure both sides are greased and floured well. then the other side is placed on top. if one side has a little hole that is the top.As it bakes it raises into the other side. I bake it for about 40 minutes. test with a tooth pick or cake tester.I have 2 sets of pans and they are both different. one does not have a hole but has a lip that fits over the edge of the first pan. I use Dromedary pound cake mix. 1 box makes 2 lambs I have a Wilton cake egg pan makes 8 half eggs. and i get 2 lambs and 4 eggs from a mix. I use butter cream frosting and cut jelly beans for the nose and eyes. i also use jelly beans around the bottom of the lamb it helps hold it upright. I get better every year. make one to try it out before you make the one you want for the Holiday. I also place the lamb pan on a jelly roll pan so if any batter runs out it is on the pan and not my oven . Do not fill the pan to the top with batter. leave about a half inch or so. Its really trial and error until you have made a few. i make 8 every year. the frosting is a hand me down too. if you need it let me know. Enjoy baking and take notes cause you wont remember next year.

The half with the hole is the lid.

Cake:
1 package chocolate cake mix,
1 regular package chocolate instant pudding
4 eggs
1 cup water
1/2 cup oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Mix cake mix and dry pudding, then add all other ingredients. Mix on medium for 2 minutes.

Grease and flour mold well; pour batter in. Use leftover batter for cupcakes. Bake 50 minutes. Test for doneness by inserting a wooden pick into steam hole.

Remove top and bake another 5-10 minutes after removing from mold trim bottom so it will stand up.

Frosting:
1 cup milk
5 tablespoons flour
1 cup granulatedsugar
1/2 cup soft butter
1/2 cup Crisco
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt

Combine flour and milk. Cook over low heat till thick. Chill.

Beat sugar, butter and Crisco until fluffy. Slowly add the chilled sauce; beat till fluffy. Add vanilla extract and salt. Frost cake; sprinkle with coconut. Use jelly beans: black/eyes; pink/nose and red lips.

Happy Easter!

I've used that type and you batter both sides of the pan (be sure to spray it well a cooking release spray) ...you put it together after baking with icing. There must be somewhere on line you can get info on baking in a mold...sorry...no time to look it up for you.

sounds like you would put batter in both sides. We used to make them at Easter as well but we used two round pans and after baking left one whole peice for his head and then carved the other round piece into two ears and the remaining inside cake piece we used for his bow tie. Like kinda the same diagram as a basketball has...
good luck!
