You can stay in Charlotte for your undergraduate studies (pre-med) at like UNC-Charlotte or Davidson College.
But for medical school, you'll have fewer choices in NC: Duke University in Durham. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem. or East Carolina University in Greenville.

Wake Forest University: about 1 1/2 hours away
Duke University: about 2 hours away
UNC-Chapel Hill: about 2 hours away
Eastern Carolina:about 3 hours away
you can go to school at UNC-Charlotte for your undergraduate studies, however, b/c that will take 4 years anyway, before you even go to medical school.
