It was the death of Christ on the cross that provided the basis for man's salvation. That is why many (but not all) see it as an important symbol.

I see your point and only half agree with you.
Jesus was crucified on the cross because he carried the cross with him at all times, which in his eyes, represented God. So, yes, the cross is mostly associated with Jesus's curicification but there is a reason behind it.

Do you understand the price that was paid on the cross?
Do you understand what Jesus did?
Are you a good person? What a question, most of us believe that we are good people because we can look around and find someone that is far worse than we are. We can always point to the things that we think make us a good person.
But how good are we really? Dare we take this test and look at ourselves and see if we really are good? Hmmm.
If you are willing try this and see just how good a person you are.
The Good Person Test.
How will you do? Pass or fail?
Have you ever told a lie?
Doesn't matter how big or small, just a lie.
What does that make you? Before answering think about this, if I told you a lie what would you call me? A liar?
Have you ever stolen anything? Cost doesn't matter, a piece of gum, failed to give back an ink pen that you borrowed, anything.
What does that make you?
Jesus said, "You know the saying of old, you shall not commit adultery but I say that if look at someone to lust after them you have committed adultery in your heart.
Have you ever lusted?
Jesus said that hate is equal to murder.
Have you ever hated anyone?
See one day we all are going to stand before a Holy God on Judgment Day and he is going to judge us based on His Holy Law, the Ten Commandments. These are just 4 of them and how did you do? Guilty? I have broken all of these and more, what about you? How well will you do on Judgment Day?
If we break just one point of God's Law we are guilty of breaking all the law and Gods Wrath abides upon us all. Based on God's Law we are all guilty and all are deserving of punishment. But there is an out for us.
Jesus paid the price for each one of us, took on himself God's Wrath so we wouldn't have to face it on our own. Jesus was beaten, battered, bleed and died so we wouldn't have to face God's Wrath. He rose again so that we would life in his presence. Our crimes, His payment.
The real question is where will you stand on Judgment Day. Pay yourself or have it paid for you. Think about it.

The Cross brought us salvation. Did you know it was prophesied that the Christ would die from Crucifixion years before it was invented?
Jesus is holy, the cross isn't. It's a reminder to us about Jesus and his sacrifice for us. His sacrificial love.

I have also asked this question. Christians place more importance on the death of the Christ than they do on the teachings of Christ. The teachings tell them how to behave, but the death (they believe) exonerates them of any punishment if they don't. Thus, they get a free ride to heaven on the broken back of an innocent man. The cross is their way of remembering that. This way, every time they disobey His teachings, all they have to do is remember that He accepted the punishment for it in advance, and they don't have to feel ashamed or guilty. Nor do they feel any compunction whatsoever to change their behavior. They claim they love Him, but they never stop letting Him accept the punishment for them. It's like having a convenient scapegoat who you can send to prison every time you commit a crime. Why would you stop committing crimes, if someone else will serve your time for you?

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)
and having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a
public specacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. (Colossians 2:15)
The cross is the Holy Cross.
Jesus won the victory on the cross for our Salvation.
We always go back to the cross, because that's where we have our victory.

The cross, in itself, isn't holy, but what happened ON the cross IS. It is merely a symbol reminding us that Christ died for our sins.
And yes, I do have a brain. A wonderful one, that God gave me. He wants me to use it and to expand it so that I can discover all the wonders He has provided and learn how to best protect all His creations.

because on the cross where Jesus died, he said that he doesn't care "Forgive them" Jesus said to God "they don't know what they're doing" in the cross he said this words and so maybe they think that if u have the cross you will be saved...it's not clear enough but I wrote it as best as I can.
