me and my bf have had our ups and our downs but he wants to get me a promise ring and i am a little worried what should i do

Don't listen to these clowns. The ring is a commitment. Don't take it if you are not ready to make it and keep it. It is better to put it off and accept it when you are ready than to let him plan his future with you just so you can later tell him, "never mind, I made a mistake."

If you are under the age of 25 then don't do it. What is the deal with promise rings? I promise to get you an engagement ring if I feel like it in 10 years? Don't waste the money or the emotion on it. Wait it out, if things go well then in a few years go right for the engagement ring and if they don't well then you're better off. Just tell him you don't need a promise ring for you to know how he feels. If he is adamant about getting one then I think his issues are with letting everyone else know you are taken and not with feelings or emotions.

ups & downs doesn't sound like a stable condition to be talking about 'maybe' getting married.
Promise ring sounds like junior high school. What's wrong with just having a healthy relationship, and let time tell what will happen. I think it will never last.

What’s there to be worried about? He’s showing you that he loves you and feels that nothing can keep the two of you apart. Even with the ups and downs he feels that the love the two of you share is strong enough to overcome it all. He’s just promising his love to you, and it’s a sweet gesture. Think of it this way, if you don’t let him get it or refuse it you may hurt him and why would you want to do that?

If you want a promise ring, let him get it. If you don't tell him that you'd rather take some time before making that commitment.

If you're not ready for this step,just tell him to give some more time,to have patience.This is something very important and you should accept the ring only when you're ready and you really want that.

Hey it's not an engagement ring. Don't panic. Accept it you can always give it back, even an engaement ring can be given back. It's when it is the wedding ring, that you've waited too long.

Its just a ring..
Sure its a promise ring, but still.
If he was asking you to marry him it would be different,
butsince its not marriage you can always end it if something rly bad happenes.

Well talk to him and tell him how you feel about the whole situation would be the best way to handle this whole thing. If you love him then do it and if you don't then tell him you wanna wait.
