I was adopted and I dont remember ever getting a talk because it was told to me when I was a small child. But my adopted parents are my parents and always will be. I wouldnt wait till he is a teenager to tell him. Just start in a couple of years but also let him know that you are his father just not the bialogical one.

Well, is the real father involved? If not then I would wait until the child was atleast 5 or 6. Or you could make it official and adopt the boy right now. Then you would never have to tell him.

You should tell your son when he is able to comprehend.
I would say at 7 or 8 years old but that's all up to you.
Your son is going to want to know why his real father is not around.
You need to treat your son like a real son. Don't make him feel less then he actually is.
You need to tell him you love him and am commit ed to him.

My best friend was adopted and she knew it all her life. She always said it never bothered her because she grew up knowing it as a fact of life. You and his mother need to decide what your going to tell him about his birth father and tell him as soon as he can even remotely understand. I think it is way more traumatic to be raised by someone you think is your parents only to find out later in life that they aren't. Kids are like adults in the way that we can usually deal with things we;re aware of. It's the ones that throw us for a loop that effect us the worse!

When you think he mature enough to handle the truth. Its not good to hold the truth from the ones that love you the most. OR, when you think its the right time, like when he is old enough to understand
Anyone can be a father.... it takes a man to be a dad

i think telling him now is good idea let it be like this"am not your real father but i love you more than anything in the world " he may not really understand it but , the idea it self will not be shocking when time comes to really understand plus the thought will be combine with that you love him so much ,so begin to tell now and from time to time
