You don't need your parent's permission to call the police and ask them to visit your brother to do a mental health evaluation. He is So on the wrong meds. Klonopin is very addictive, and so not useful here. Flexaril is just a muscle relaxer, and wont help at all.

My son who is in his 20s has the same diagnosis as your brother, and we've been through a lot with him. Thank goodness the psychiatrists finally found the right combination of medication for him, and except for being a little withdrawn, and having a job that requires functioning at a level that is lower than he was capible of before he got sick, he's back to his basic personality. He also isn't having any irrational thinking or beliefs. Because when he had a lot of symptoms, he was very threatening to his mother and to himself, we had to have him hospitalized on several occasions, and while we hated to see that, it was clear that he understood very well after he wasn't so sick, that he really needed the hospitalizations.
Another thing I can tell you for sure, is that a medicine such as Klonapin will never help a psychotic condition, unless he's also taking an antipsychotic at the same time. Whether of not he's also taking an antipsychotic with the Klonopin, he definitely can cause severe harm to himself by taking so much Klonopin, especially if he's also drinking. It can worsen his psychiatric symptoms, if it doesn't kill him, and it also can cause addiction.
If it were a relative of mine, I'd definitely seek to have him hospitalized, as psychosis combined with drug abuse of an addicting substance requires hospitalization if he's to have a chance to get better. If you don't know how to innitiate an involuntary psychiatric hospitalization, you should be able to find out by calling your county's Dept. of Mental Health.
Good luck to you and to your brother.

I can relate. My ex husband is schizophrenic and manic depressive. He always accused me of trying to poison him and spraying him with poisonous "gasses". He always leaves me voice mails with all kinds of random thoughts. None of them making any sense to me. He accuses me of being in a cult.He talks to himself and hears many different voices. He also has a fear of black explorers. My advice to you would be, stay as far away from him as possible. These individuals are very unpredictable. I'm raising his three children with no child support because he cannot even function enough to work. Good luck to you and I'm sorry you've had to deal with this . It's not gonna be an easy road. This illness never goes away. It can be regulated a little, maybe, but thats it.

poor guy! it's tough having mental disorders. has his liver been checked for disease? i had hcv and it caused me to be misdiagnosed over and over again. his abuse of the medications means that he is desperate to find help.
as for calling the police and placing a 72 hour hold? what will that prove? it will only label him a criminal! i would suggest telling your folks that he needs to be tested for diseases that will cause the mental issues! things like hcv, even a slight concussion when younger can cause it. other viruses and chronic illnesses can be to blame as well.
dont give up on your brother and please do not call the police. they are very untrained and usually are not there to help, they harm more with mental disease than any other population!

Call his Dr and explain the situation and get him placed in a psychiatric ward for observation and assessment of his drugs.Dont expect the Dr to answer any questions for you, its against the law,but at least tell him what's going on. And yes if your mother doesn't have control of his meds, then she is being irresponsible. He needs you as an advocate for him.

My son who's in his 20s has a similar diagnosis as your brother, and we've been by ability of way of lots with him. Thank goodness the psychiatrists finally suggested the splendid mix of scientific guard him, and to boot for being only a sprint withdrawn, and having a function that demands appearing at a level it incredibly is lessen than he became as quickly as capible of in the previous than he won sick, he's returned to his commonplace character. He additionally isn't having any irrational pondering or ideals. because of the fact on a similar time as he had a marvelous type of signs and symptoms, he became as quickly as very threatening to his mom and to himself, we had to have him hospitalized on some circumstances, and on a similar time as we hated to look that, it became as quickly as sparkling that he understood marvelous after he wasn't so sick, that he quite needed the hospitalizations. yet another element i will permit you comprehend for specific, is that a scientific care such as Klonapin won't ever help a psychotic subject, until eventually he's likewise taking an antipsychotic on a similar time as. no rely if of no longer he's likewise taking an antipsychotic with the Klonopin, he certainly can purpose severe harm to himself by taking lots Klonopin, quite if he's likewise eating. it could aggravate his psychiatric signs and symptoms, if it would not kill him, and it could additionally purpose addiction. If it have been a relative of mine, i might certainly seek to have him hospitalized, as psychosis blended with drug abuse of an addicting substance demands hospitalization if he's to have a danger to get better. in case you don't comprehend a technique to innitiate an involuntary psychiatric hospitalization, you're able to desire to be useful to locate out by calling your county's Dept. of psychological well-being. good fulfillment to you and on your brother.
