Hey! We just has this lesson in Laurels!
Sunday is the sabbath day, because it was the day of rest for the Lord after creating the earth. Because we consecrate this day to worship our Heavenly Father, we treat is different for the othe days of the week. LDS refrain from doing labor, causing others to work, spending money, recreation, sporting events, and other festivities. Rather, we spend this day going to church, reading scriptures, spending quality time with family members, visiting the sick and homebound, and doing family history work. There are, of course, some grey areas, but the Lord does not spell everything out for us for a reason. He wants to know that we can use our free agancy wisely, and have faith in His word. It really is about the attitude in which we do these things, as opposed to what the action or activity is. We should, though, have Him in our thoughts no matter the day of the week.

Sabbath means day of rest. For Jews and Sevent Day Adventists, the sabbath is Saturday. For Christians, it is Sunday because it is in our Lord, Jesus Christ that we find the rest for our souls.
In the catholic Church, keeping the sabbath holy means going to Mass is an obligation. Missing Mass with out a good reason such as being sick or taking care of a sick person is considered a very serious sin.

i'm kind of confused about this one. my CHURCH says that you should do no unnecessary work (which basically to them means, women should be up cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the house and children while the men sit on their fat rears...), that you should go no place that isn't necessary, and that you should spend no money whatsoever on the sabbath day. i was never brought up that way and it still seems a foreign concept to me. i'm really not sure what it all means.

I believe in devoting it to serving God and others, and doing things that further my beliefs and those of others. But if that is the time you have to be with your family and those who love you, that is most important. You should spend it doing things that make you feel happy and spiritually whole
