No, I don't know how an all-loving, all-merciful God will only pick & choose his children. That is simply dogma created by man out of pure prejudice and hatred. God would never allow such things, & loves all his children no matter what. He created each & every one of us, good or bad, to be saved in the end, he would never, ever, abandon any of us no matter how bad we were.

You can't just take one verse and make a doctrine out of it. You need to see what the Bible as a whole teaches. Look at the following verses that counter your thought.
John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and WHOEVER comes to me I will never drive away.
2. Peter 3:9 9 The Lord ... is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Our human logic says: either this or that, God's logic is above ours and can say "this, as well as the other"

God elect were chosen before the universe was created based upon God's foreknowledge of the choices we would make.
As relates to salvation, there are a couple of theological concepts worth mentioning. Arminianism sees the choice of Christ as impossible, apart from God's grace; and the freedom to choose is given to all, because God's prevenient grace is universal (given to everyone). Therefore, God predestines on the basis of foreknowledge of how some will respond to his universal love ("conditional"). Think of Arminianism as John 3:16 for anyone who so believes.
In contrast, Calvinism views "universal" grace as resistible and not sufficient for leading to salvation--or denies "universal" grace altogether--and instead supposes grace that leads to salvation to be particular and irresistible, given to some (the elect) but not to others on the basis of God's predestinating choice ("unconditional"). Think of Calvinism as John 3:16 for only the elect God has chosen before time began.

No, God has plans for each guy or woman. additionally, God choosing somebody (or a people) in many circumstances finally leads to trials and hardships for those chosen so i'm undecided if jealousy is rather an precise descriptor for a manner the "non - %" sense. i might additionally desire to point out that working around calling oneself a "chosen" one is merely demanding.

We choose God.
You need to read the rest of that chapter instead of taking verse 44 out of context. You will find that first we must first hear the Word, then learn the Word. We must believe in Jesus, He is the 'living bread' from heaven, if we partake of HIm , we will not die.
In these scriptures, it is clearly taught that we choose.
Every one has the same opportunity to decide to follow Christ and be saved, or not.

That is what I believe, but the ones that are chosen must be open and accepting to God.
