True. The 1,000 & 2,000 Guineas are run over 1 mile (8 furlongs); The Oaks and The Derby over 1 mile and a half (12 furlongs); and the St Leger over 1 mile and 3/4 (16 furlongs)

the race is run over 1 mile and 6 furlongs making it the longest classic in britain but not the longest classic in the world the melbourne cup is longer by about 2 furlongs
