Hell yeah! The best relationships start out as friends. You have a solid base to build something more on. If you can't see it happening then you need to address the issue to save the friendship. Just tell him that you think your current situation is perfect as is and want to be able to keep it that way. Make sure you tell him that this won't change anything for you and hope his is OK with it.
On the other hand if you feel the same the next time you are with him, take him by the hand, look in to his eyes and just say "me too" and kiss him.

You know, it takes a lot for someone to tell another person how they feel, especially a friend.
And yes, I believe that is what he was saying to you.
Your response "You're joking right?" probably made him feel embarassed, uncomfortable and rejected, so that's why he dropped the subject.
I would bring up the subject again for clarification and ask him what he meant by that... was he joking or not ? Get more details.
And if he wasn't joking, well then I guess you'll have a decision to make.

I think that this joel guy really likes you and and that if you like him l think you guys should try it because your already friends and you already know what each other like. If you want talk to him about it and see how he feels and how you feel and if you don't want to be sure to tell him and if he is a true friend he will understand.

Ya think? Wow, what a brilliant deduction that if someone tells you they want to be more than friends that they want to be more than friends! Call the papers!
He was probably nervous and embarrassed. If you like him too, ask him about it. If not, let it lie - he may bring it up again and if so, tell him that you want to just be friends.

I think he DID tell you. What do YOU want to do about it? He may have took your remark sorta as a rejection. I don't know your age, but if I were interested, I'd have to have that statement clearified for me. Make him talk about it.
