First, for the dry hair, you want to switch to a hair care line that is more conditioning, and made for 'ethnic' hair. I'd suggest Cream of Nature, as they have different types of shampoos and conditioners that are made for different hair textures. Or you may like Motions, their conditioning shampoo is great! And they CPR conditioner is really good too. If you put the wrap lotion on just after you wash and condition, it'll help the hair to set straighter when you flat-iron it. Pink oil moisturizer is also good for taming frizy dry hair.

As far as a heat protectant, I use Silk Elements Heat Protectant spray. It is great!! It leaves your hair soft and shiny. It smells great, and isn't flaky or pasty. Good luck!!

Wash your hair with sulfate free shampoo (sulfates dry out your hair) and after you condition it, pat your hair dry with a towel and use a pump of argan oil. It’ll smooth the frizz down and make your hair look nice and soft. It’s not oily or heavy, or at least the one I have isn’t, mine is by the Pro naturals brand which is only sold online. It doubles as a heat protectant if you ever want to straighten or blow dry your hair.
