CSX is flying my boyfriend down to Jacksonville this week for a 4 hour interview. Has anyone gone through this and could let me know what he can expect. Is there anything he can do to prepare or anything he should know before the interview?
They finally seem to be moving on his app. He applied about 6 months ago and just a couple fridays ago got a phone interview. Last week they emailed him some tests and within 24 hours they called him for the interview.

It's very clear your boyfriend has gotten CSX's attention. Good for him! As a csx railworker(engineer) all I can say is for him to preach team work and safety. These two issues are the highest priority at this time. Also have answers ready for questions like: How to motovate discruntted employees? What are his weeknesses? Are you willing to relocate? At the presant time management is sent to differant areas to prevent neprotism and give a good start on respect. He needs to remember 90% of labor just want a little respect. The majority of us have worked on-call 24/7 for decades. We are tried. If he gets a management position I do wish you luck. It will be long hours, good pay, and a descent life style.

This is a tough one. In some industries office manager is a lower to middle management position where in others it is an upper management position. Does the position include accounting and budgeting as well as day to day office management? How many employees will you be managing? 3? 20? Depending on the city and job requirements the salary could be anywhere from $20,000 to $60,000. Do your homework, and don't sell yourself short. Be confident look the interviewer in the eye when answering your questions. Give straightforward to the 2 questions that are always asked in an interview in one form or another. Why do you want to change jobs and Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Best of luck.

I don't know about CSX, but this question came up regarding the Union Pacific a week ago or so. I have posted some information on this aspect of railroading in my most recent blog on my 360, which you can access through this site by clicking on Hoghead.

Tell your boy friend good luck...................
