well its not so simple that centrioles are not present in neurons...and then thats it.......cell division has many things up its sleeve...like genes such as p16,p53,cell cycle regulators/inhibitors and telomeres.etc.....they all work together to cause cells to divide...
adult neurons lack the ability to divide becuase of many things such as telomeres,replication inhibitory genes.etc.etc...and the reason why i said adult is that when brain is growing at that time they actually are proliferating but then they loose the ability to divide..its just natures way to say that enoughs enough and if u get a HUGEEEEEE BRAIN then u wont be NATURES CREATURE but its CREATOR...So an ideal time for brain to stop growing..
and well for brain tumors,those cell lines do get mutated ot their genes get mutated resulting in malignancy...
thus as you can see from my answer there is a very thin line between proliferation and apoptosis or cell death or senescence(cells stop dividing) and cancer...and thas wat the new era of research is all about...

cancers in the brain generally migrate there from elsewhere in the body.

rn's right. one thing however, is that viruses can cause disease and developement of cancer. a good example is EBV.
