I have yet to meet a Catholic or any Christian denomination that worships statues of Mary or Jesus. I mean this is so crazy that people believe this lie! How many people in a sane mind are going to worship a clay or wooden man made statue? It defies any reasonable logic that someone would do this! No where in the Catholic faith does it state that one should worship statues or worship Mary! Read http://www.scripturecatholic.com/ and look up the section on Mary etc. for more explanations for these lies. I think people just make up these lies to cause trouble... It is so sad that people do this and believe this ludicrous lie.

Christians does not worship the statue of Jesus and His mother Mary. Not even the catholics, Catholics are christians. Though some people perceived that catholics worships the statue because catholics have statue. Statues and images of Jesus and saints are representations of something that is Divine. Catholics respect statutes and images.
In the Old testament, Israelite pay homage to the Ark of the Covenant. The ark of the covenant have four statues of angels. When Israelites pay homage to the ark of the covenat who has the images of 4 angels, do they worhip the 4 angels? No! The same applies with the catholics. Another instance int the Old testament is where Israelites where bitten by snake. God asked Moses to make a cross with a brazen serpent and told moses that those who have been bitten will be cured only when they will look at the cross with a brazen serpent. And it is stated that thos who look were cured. Does it mean that they worship the brazen serpent? No! Images and statues of Jesus Christ and the saints are aids to remind catholics to follow the Gospel. Catholics do not worship them

I'm a christian, and I don't worship any statues or any icons. We believe Mary was the mother of Christ, and she is held in high regards for that, but we don't worship her, or pray to her for her role. We don't even have crosses or statues in our church. There are pictures in the hallways and some class rooms, but they aren't worshiped. We worship Christ and God, not a statue.

Why would you kiss a picture of your wife or children? Why would you carry a picture of someone you love in your wallet? Why would you hang a poster of your favorite football team or rock'n'roll band at the wall? Pictures or statues are just made for us to remember those we love, but they dont carry those people personality, or course not. That said, there's no problem about having statues in your house or church of those you believe!!
Some people think this is wrong simply because the ancient used to worship animals made of clay, but this is quite different than having Jesus image around, come on!
Peace!

To the above poster who said Catholics worship statutes, and Mary, you are wrong. We worship Jesus Christ God Almighty, not statues or Mary. Before you post your hate of the Catholic Church (the church Jesus established and placed into Peter's hands)please educate yourself, attend a Mass or read up on it.
No, Christians do not worship statues and Mary. We worship Jesus Christ God Almighty

Oh misinformed soul...
No Christian worships any statues. We worship God in spirit.
And Catholics hail Mary, not Christians (Protestants)... two very different faiths.
