I'm a 31B(MP), and I went to OSUT in Leonard Wood. There was no point in bringing anything. They took everything civilian except a bible, and locked it in a room for the whole time till we graduated. Just the clothes you need to get to Benning, and whatever you need on the plane(iPod, snacks, etc.), but don't be surprised if they take everything. They even took my running shoes I planned on using for PT, and I had to buy a new pair out of the shoppette. That was in Leonard Wood though. Someone who went to Benning, will probably be able to give you an exact answer.

Do not bring ANYTHING valuable (such as electronics, jewelry, etc). Bring enough street clothes to last you 2-4 days, and toiletries that will last for about a week (you will then be given money to buy things at the BX they have at base, I believe), and bring a small amount of money (around $10). Also bring gym shoes and shower shoes.
There should be some links with more detailed info =)

don't buy anything, just take your id's with you. they make you buy everything, just take two pairs civil clothes with you. 30 bucks id's mean all id's and go in with a clean shave. don't bother with a hair cut they give you one anyway. when you get there they give you a cat card. you use it to buy equipment. the make you buy everything. when you get there don't buy too much but buy back ups just in case but DO NOT BUY TOO MUCH! they will think you are selling. don't buy clothing extras. they will be issued and that is all they allow at basic. do not ever buy after shave or bring it that also goes for shampoo. when you get there only use dial soap, antibacterial preferably. when you meet you drill sergeants for the first time stay perfectly still, don't look at them or anything else look ahead. use you peripheral vision.
just SHUT UP AND DO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD, NEVER ASK WHY!
good luck and god bless!

Your recruiters got a list, it basicly consists of everything for 2 days and everything else you can buy at the base store. No electric razors because cleaning detail is impossible to comply with unless its a regular disposable razor. No books, magazines, ipods, none of that sh*t

As little as possible. Only bring enough clothing and toiletry items to last you for two days; the Army will issue you everything else you need, right down to your underwear.

A shaving kit is all you will need. The Army will provide everything else. It would be a good idea to ask your recruiter also.

You won't need a book. You'll have your recruit training guide. Ha Ha
