Using the Bush Doctrine, the US can invade, occupy, and kill the citizens of a foreign country just because the US thinks the foreign country might be a threat. Can't we use the same justification in everyday life? Can't I just kick somebody in the balls because I fear he might be a threat? Even if he isn't a threat, it's how I feel that's important, right?

I see lots of you patriots agree with me. Remember, just because you're paranoid that doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you.

Centurion: NOBODY in Iraq had done a damn thing to you or any US citizen. If you want to justify your killing by citing duty, then so be it. But if you want to justify it by saying the Iraqis deserved it, then yes you are a murderer. See ya on judgement day.

Sure, we're all wussies and anything can put us in reasonable or unreasonable fear. If we can toss out the magna carta, what are a few more minor points of common law?

Wow. First of all, the decision to invade, occupy, and kill citizens is much more complex than "waving the magic war wand". We consider certain place and peoples in the Middle East to be a threat - 9/11 was a big kick in the nuts for America. Even liberals supposedly believe that it is necessary for our military to be in Afghanistan. So, what country are we invading and occupying? Last time I checked, America is not funding the building of new American housing tracts in the Mid East.

assault -placing a person in reasonable fear of an immanent battery
battery -is actual contact
Actually that's been the law for as long as I can remember. You are within your rights to defend yourself or someone else who cannot or will not defend themselves.
So, if I saw someone about to attack you ,even though I feel my country would be better off with out your liberal vote, I would get in there and help you. Because I would rather die than be
a
coward.

Oh you mean we should only treat each Muslim attack as its own crime and have a trail in this country with all the rights given to American citizens.
Plus open up the CIA and all its operations to public domian so anyone can go into the CIA or any other intelligence organization to find out what is going on.
Yep you sure do have sound grip on the kind of bad guys we are dealing with.

Being kicked in the nads is not one of your worries, the target is too small to hit.
Why dont you take your drivel and tell it to one of the survivors of 9/11, or any of the people who have seen the thousands of pages of documents which show SoDamn was financing the terrorist groups which attacked us on that day. Or are you looking for something which says "Received of Saddam Hussein, 150,000 for services rendered (attacks on peaceful civilians in a nation not at war with us at this time)"

*sigh* Let's all whine for the supposed citizens. Did you know that half of the Iraq casualitles listed as "civilians" were actually people shooting at our armed forces? I'm talking about including women and children. Get off your damn soap box and realize that nothing about war is easy, and in warfare where terrrosts look like civilians that there is no black and white.

Interesting way of thinking about it. I'll say that for sure. I don't care about any of your views all though none are my own, but I was in Iraq and I take a great deal of offense to your insinuation I killed civilians. I didn't engage anyone who wasn't shooting at or pointing a weapon at me, my unit, other friendly units or at INNOCENT civilians. Not all weapons are fire arms by the way.
The moment they raise a weapon they are no longer civilians OR a, perceived threat but a very real threat.
Have you ever been shot at?
