Tame rabbit is sold in stores.
It is very common in south Louisiana. You will pay about the same price as a good T-Bone steak. It is delicious and a clean tasting meat. You can find it whole, cut up, seasoned or stuffed.
Season it with Garlic Season-All and Worchestershire Sauce. Cook it in a good seasoned Cast Aluminum pot with onions, bell pepper, and carrots...it makes a beautiful gravy.
OH!! By the way...You are so right about the starving people in the world. The way rabbits reproduce, there is no excuse.
Instead of us handing out billions of $$$$ to the different countries and the people never benefitting from it...hand out rabbits "to the people".

Actually, rabbit IS raised commercially, but not on a very big scale. I've never seen any for sale at the store either (maybe the public isn't ready for that yet?). But I was served rabbit in basic training in the Air Force once about 20 years ago. It was good, though domestic rabbit is never as good as wild rabbit. Ymmmm! You really should try it some time.

I can get rabbit and have eaten rabbit here in the U.S. I think it is becoming more and more popular. People are moving past their prejudice based on the Easter bunny and Bugs Bunny, etc. You're right though, rabbit is a great food source. Ask your local grocery store to start selling rabbit more frequently.

We do eat rabbit, especially in the south. That could be due to the fact that we have such a french influence here in New Orleans.

They do sell rabbit in some stores...atleast they do here, in the butcher shops.

It's very good, they were even cooking with it on the foodnetwork last week.

Just because you don't eat rabbit meat, does not mean it's not eaten here in the States! Just because it isn't in the major grocery stores does not mean it isn't eaten!! Plenty of people sell and eat rabbit meat!
