Judaism is a profound and amazing tradition, at its best a 4000 year long dialogue on how best to live ethically, with each generation contributing its part.
Unfortunately, it's also very much misunderstood. The long history of anti-semitism got its start in Christian propaganda -- the early church fathers were great for dissing each other over minute theological points; what they did with Judaism is horrendous slander.
Christianity also commandeered our texts and color how everyone else sees them. When non-Christians slam Judaism, it's often because Torah is full of violence and blood. What they don't understand is how the tradition uses it to show us how NOT to live.
A couple of thousand years of misinformation mean that the anti-semites are criticizing an idea that's far from reality. Learn more about your tradition so that it is a source of strength to you.

The question is...what kind of people treat you badly? Is it surely because you are a jewish?
My boyfriend is a jew and I want to convert to judaism...I was an atheist, I believed in G-d when I had a contact with some christians, but now that I m learning about judaism I get more and more excited and I love jews, judaism and Israel!
But, beyond religion, treating like a garbage to someone (even worse if it is for religious reasons) should make THEM ashamed and not you worried.
Many people want to destroy what is better of them, instead of learning of it and superating it!
;)

You are God's chosen people. The Jews have been persecuted throughout ancient and modern history. The promise was given to you first, but as all children can be, your people became disobedient and God provoked you to jealously by giving the promise to Gentiles as well. As a result, all peoples can receive the promise. God says because they hated me, (He is a Jewish) then they will also hate you. Stay strong in the Lord. He is your fortress, your rock, your salvation. If God is with you, who can be aganist you? Remember, if they do not like you for no other reason than being Jewish, than you are better off not knowing them, for bad conversation corrupts good manners.

No, being Jewish is most certainly NOT bad. I never understood that particular form of hate, especially by Christians. Hello, Jesus himself was a Jew, a practicing and believing Jew, at that. And when people pull out that garbage about "oh, the Jews killed Christ," it makes my blood boil. THE ROMAN AUTHORITIES killed Jesus; it was a small handful of Jewish leaders who turned him over, but that doesn't speak for the entire religion.

No, being Jewish is not bad. Many gentiles don't understand the meaning of the Jews being Gods chosen people. the Jews were blamed by many for the Crucifixion of Christ, but it was because they were strong in the worship of God, that they failed to except Jesus as their Messiah, their unbelief as well as everyone else during that time, is what led to His death. I think there is a lot of jealousy in the dislike of the Jews. You stop worrying about what others think. Head-up !!

Courtney,
I am a simple Christian and I have had people say the same kinds of things to/about me. It should not matter who they are or what they say so long as you believe that you are right keep your faith. When you are up to having a discussion of faith I would be glad to having one with you. Keep a beautiful smile on your face and people will wonder what you are thinking of all of the time. NEVER let anyone get you down for YOUR BELIEFS! Have a great week young lady.
Thanks,
Eds
PS... I have enjoyed your comments at different times. Please keep them coming.

No, you are not. You can't help the faith you were born into. If you are blindly following that faith, well, that is up to you, but personally I think it is healthy to question the things that go on around us.
If people treat you like dirt just for being Jewish, ignore them.

I'm sorry to hear that you are being treated badly. You will find out that young people put each other down no matter what you are. It is a matter of low self-esteem. If someone doesn't like herself, then she doesn't like anyone else, either. All of that self hate comes out as bigotry against other people.
