when my dog was a puppy, i used to sing a particular song a lot and he would just sit right in front of me and watch, it was so cute. he"s now 6 months but he only does that with this one song. even if i'm not there and it comes on the radio or on tv, he will just stop what he's doing and look for me. it's so strange, why that one song?

Dogs are very strange! They enjoy hearing things that remind them of their "pack" Your dog might associate this song with you so when the dog hears it, it is a nice reminder. The dog might also think it is you howling and remembers you singing it from being little so hears it again and thinks it is you. Howling is a happy thing for dogs so he believes you are happy.
As for stopping and watching, in a pack he wouldn't howl with the others at that age he would watch so that is what he might be doing. Dogs don't howl too much though as they have lost this when being domesticated as it was a nuisance so he shouldn't do it when he is older.
I hope that is alrite!!

It's probably that you used to sing it and he associates it with you.
I had a little Yorkie and whenever I played the Eurythmics "There must be an angel" I used to sing along with it and she used to go crazy and howl all the way through it.It was the harmonica bit that first started her off I think but after a while she howled as soon as it came on, it was the only song she ever did it to. Weird.!

My Grandmothers dog used to howl his fool head off during the theme song for her favorite soap opera " As The World Turns.".

Dogs are just as strange and different as people in some ways?

Probably because it was the one song you sung to him as a puppy.

It could be the note/pitch that it is sung in. It's also something that he is familiar with and probably likes it. How cute!

its like learned behavior. he's used to hearing you sing it, so it's just become something he knows that reminds him of you.
