I am having a friend draw a tattoo design for me. If I bring it in, would I offend the tattoo artist? The artist may have tp draw it to resize it, etc.

they don't have to redraw it to make the stencil, thats what copy machines are for...

and no they wont be offended at all..they want to do the tat that YOU want to do..

actually they kind of chuckle at people that just point at the wall and say "ill take that one"

Have fun!

FYI:

Fresh Tattoo

Take bandage off in 2 hours
Wash tattoo carefully with warm soapy water
DO NOT SCRUB
Lightly pat the tattoo until dry…
DO NOT RUB
Apply a very thin coat of bacitracin or aquaphor ointment 3 times a day for 3 to 5 days
Although re-bandaging a tattoo is not recommended, if covering the tattoo is necessary a sterile bandage or dressing should be used.
Be sure and wash the tattoo every night and morning…
DO NOT SOAK
Avoid tattoo exposure to direct sunlight and refrain from swimming in fresh, salt or chlorinated water for at least 2 weeks.
After External Healing

Tattoos heal quickly BUT fading can still be a problem
Apply hand lotion once a day until dryness stops
Vaseline Intensive Care, Lubriderm, Nivea, etc...
Tanning fades tattoos
Always cover fully healed tattoo with sun block
DO NOT RUIN YOUR INVESTMENT!!!

It won't offend them in the least. Tattoo artists are used to customers coming in with every possible kind of idea about their future tattoo - ranging from no clue what they want, through some scribbles on the back of an envelope, up to detailed drawings of precisely what they're after. It's part of the job and they'll be fine with it.

Because it's their job, they may often want to suggest changes to the design in order to make it a better tattoo. It's a good idea to ask for their input and take any suggestions on board, for this reason. But they certainly won't mind you turning up with a good idea of what you want - it shows you've thought about it and that's always a good sign.

Enjoy getting your tattoo!

if it's what you want. most artists wouldn't be offended but you may not get as good of a tattoo just because a lot of tattoo artists are artists in general and are great at what they do. i never bring work to my artist. i tell him what i want and let him do whatever he wants to do with it. it makes the tattoo unique and wonderful. i have seen some tattoos that friends or the person has drawn themselves and they just don't look that great. as long as you're happy with what you get tho....

No, a good tattoo artist will not be offended. It's something that is going to be on YOUR body for the rest of your life, so it better be exactly what YOU want. They may offer suggestions on how to improve it, but the final say is really up to you.
If the artist is offended or rude about it, I say grab your artwork and hightail it outta there.

It shouldn't offend the artist. If he/she is put out by having to resize it or whatever,I honestly would NOT go to that artist.

It would be one if you just hated the tattoo because it was shitty work but you have a legitimate reason for covering it up and I don't think she would be offended especially since you are going back to her to have it covered.

They shouldn't be offended by that at all, but keep in mind that they have to change it a little to flow with your body sometimes. I brought in a picture for my artist and it turned out a little differenet then the picture, so be prepared for that.

No, the tatto artist won't be offended. This is a piece of art that will be on your body for ever, and you should have it done the exact way you want it.

Actually tattoo artists welcome your ideas. It makes it easier for them when they know what you want. They will have to essentially copy it by hand anyway to make a copy to put onto your skin that they will use as their guide when they are doing the outline. It is their job to make sure you are getting what you want and that you are pleased with your tattoo.

Not at all!
Most artists I imagine will enjoy doing something original, rather than just flash.
