I think God reveals himself to people in different ways, maybe that's why we have so many different Christian Churches. I say this from experience. I have seen in my own life how God has revealed himself to me in different ways, depending on what age I was, and how mature my faith in him was. One time he scared me to death. I was sitting in my chair at work, and had stopped to talk to a lady who was a recent convert to Christianity. After she left, I felt a sensation of blood being poured over the top of my head, and a voice inside my head that said, "I'm going to take away something from you that means the most". That scared me, because that could be anything. After this experience, I couldn't stop listening to Christian music, or get enough Religious television. I didn't know what had come over me, as I didn't use to be like that. Looking back, I think God's Holy Spirit was trying to strengthen me for what was to come. I lost my wife. There are so many more experiences I have had besides this one, all of them different. This is the only time I can honestly say God spoke to me, but the other experiences also caught me off Guard, and were equally as moving and surprising at the time. Do I talk to others about my experiences, no. They would either read into it, think I was nuts, or feel bad that they had not experienced the same thing. God's not like that. We are all special, and how God reveals himself to me or you or anyone else is our business. Read the Word, (Bible) and be prepared for anything God has in store for you. It will definitely surprise you. It has me. God Bless. :)

When a great idea pops into my head out of no where, I could imagine that that is the Divine sending a message. When my usual mind chatter is interrupted with seemingly unbidden soothing words, I could imagine that that is the Divine sending a message. When a perfect stranger gives me an idea or tells me something that seems important, I can imagine that as a message from the Divine. When I don't know what to do (or I am lost in the car) I try to be open and hope to get a bit of guidance and so trust my instincts more. That sort of thing.

Just before my grandmother died I told her that I wanted her to come back and tell me what happens, that I was really interested and if she would try to do that for me I would really appreciate it. She said she wouldn't because she wouldn't want to scare me. She told me she would send me a letter if she could. I agreed to that and we both laughed about it and I didn't think of it again - until 3 days after she died I woke up with such a strong thought in my mind, super clear, it was like my own thought or remembering part of a dream - it said death is easy, no big deal, just a transition. I was sure that this was my grandmother's "letter" and I think this is often how messages come to us from the home office as it were.

Peace!

It is a feeling and a "drawing" at the same time. It is part of your conciense. Everyone has a voice inside. If you spend time in the Word of God, then this feeling becomes clearer and stronger.

If you spend no time with God, then the words are simply your own mind speaking to you.

All thoughts come from somewhere. Christians believe they come from either God (Holly Spirit), Yourself, or Satan.

Although, He spoke in an actual voice to some in the past, but now
He mostly speaks to through His Word. If He has something for you to do, the Holy Spirit will speak to you through your spirit, and your spirit will communicate to you through your soul, which is dwells in you. Sometimes Satan will try to communicate to you this same way. If you have received the Holy Spirit, then Satans spirit can't get through. Neither can Satan's spirit cross the blood line of Christ in your soul.

I don't go around saying that God speaks to me. I do however, say that I feel God is telling me such and such. I get a conviction in my heart about something, and that conviction is so strong, and it seems to just pop in there as if it is the obvious answer to whatever it is I am considering or thinking about.

One time I was at Arby's, getting some food. While in the drive-thru lane for a very long time (long line), I noticed a couple of homeless people digging through their shopping carts looking for food they had salvaged. They were obviously hungry. I normally don't make a habit of giving anything to people on the street because where I live, many people have tried to impersonate homeless people in order to scam others out of money. As I was driving away, a sudden urge to turn the car around and give these guys some sandwiches hit me. I got out, asked them if it would be okay for me to give them some sandwiches, and got back in my car. When I offered the food, the man and his woman companion were so grateful and they hugged me. I said nothing to my daughter about it, but she was in the backseat and to this day, she has been moved by the act of doing something for someone else.

My point is that I KNOW that God wanted me to do what I did because the people involved were so grateful and for all I know, they could have been wondering if God loved them, when a total stranger pulls up and gives them food and then drives away. That could have been an affirmation from God to them that yes, He loves them. It was a positive experience for my young daughter, who was not told anything by me, but she saw how we ought to treat one another. It was a positive experience for me because I felt good being able to feel like I was helping someone in a small way. All of this was because of the gut feeling I had that said I needed to do something, and I listened to the gut feeling. When we feel "drawn" to something, as you said in your question, or when something inside of us tells us in our gut that we ought to do something, as long as that something is not destructive or harmful to anyone, I believe that is God speaking to us.
