yes and they are the most intelligent breed i'v ever come across i have two and they are very obedient and extremely energetic. if you don't have a big garden or don't live near some big open areas i would recommend you getting a dog that isn't as lively as a collie.

I have a Bearded Collie which is 1 of 4 breeds of collie. The others are Border,Rough and Smooth. The Shetland Sheepdog is a collie in all but name as it is a mini Rough Collie.

They all come from Scotland (the Border is from the Scottish/English border area as the name suggests. They are named after a breed of sheep they were bred to herd.

As for why I own a beardie-simple they are ace!Intelligent, affectionate and beautiful.

I have had the pleasure of owning a Border Collie for 11 years now, he is absolutely awsome, the smartest dog I have ever known. But not a breed for everyone!!!!!!!

I had a wonderful border collie that grew up with my children...there is not a better family dog...he was smart...protective and as gentle with the kids as you could want. I remember one time we went walking with him (on a leash of course) my spouse had him with the kids and I was further ahead with our shepard because we walked faster...out of nowhere two huge dogs came charging at my family I heard the barking and growling and turned around but I was too far away to get to them in time...my collie put himself between the dogs and my family (I swear he puffed himself up twice his size) he worked those two dogs like sheep never letting them get close to anyone when he would stop there was a growl that came from deep inside him that made the hair on my arms stand up and he had his head down low watching the two other dogs...I don't know what those dogs thought they had got hold of but they took off yelping...Yep...love collies...great dogs...he saved my family (me and the shepard were useless...needless to say I never walked far ahead of my family again...)

We have had a couple of Collies and several Border Collies. We used them to work the cattle and sheep on our farm. They were great pets and hard working dogs. We even had one that went blind, but could still work the cattle using his sense of smell.

We lived in the country, my dad found a collie walking along the tracks, he brought it home. Unfortunately the dog tried to chase a train and we had him no more.

We found another but the owner came for him.

They are beautiful, regal animals with stright seeking eyes and beautiful faces. The coat is very thick and one can hug these creatures and it seems they know they are there to be cared for.

Great hunting dogs at one time. I am sure they are still used in other countries for that but here they are just show dogs with huge hearts.

We had a collie mutt. She was very smart, but not very cooperative. She lived for over 19 years till she passed on of old age.

my partner had a pure collie when he was a child and loved it to bits, i was never really a dog person then he bought me a male collie cross lurcher which was really well behaved and very intelligent sometimes its scary!but the dog lived with him as i was still at my parents so he ended up getting closer to the dog than me so when i moved in with him i got myself another dog collie cross staffie shes very playful but not as intelligent as the other dog i howevr love her too bits she had 8 pups last year and i would have loved to keep one but i couldnt afford to feed 3 dogs as well as my baby. both dogs love excercise i have rarely seen the male tired, the female tires easier but would never stop anyway i have to be careful because she could have a staffy heart which means it cant cope with the strenous excercise a collie can so i have to make her rest or she could have a heart attack like my friends similar dog did from excercising too much at once

No but I have been attacked by two of them when I was a little kid. I was playing in my yard with my toy ponies when out of nowhere these two collies come up behind me and grabbed my head and started tearing me to bits. Not fun. I had to get stitches

Had a couple. Very obedient, clever dogs. Quite good at rounding up sheep. Not bad for the poaching either.
