Because you're a generous loving person. Don't let anyone take that away from you. Go on enjoying giving, it's wonderful!
Remember, it's much better to give then receive!

Honey, I used to be just like you. And I say used to. I loved to buy gifts for others, and really did not care if anyone reciprocated. If you live at home and can afford it and it makes you feel good then do it, however, it is not necessary to buy for everyone. You can buy for younger nieces and nephews , under 14 our younger cousins. Of course your siblings. However, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, they really should not expect anything, a card is worth a thousand words.
If you are buying for your fiends, and you stop, they should remain your friends, but if they get angry because you did not buy them a birthday present, then they are not true friends.
As you get older and have a family of your own, you will find that you will not be financially able to keep up with the gift buying , and all will understand. That is why many families draw names at Christmas.

Wanting to make other people happy is your gift. You have compassion and are unselfish That's a rare thing. There's nothing wrong with it, as long as you are not breaking the bank. If you buy someone a gift, but can't afford to pay your gas bill, That's a problem. Everything doesn't have to have some deep-seated psychological reason behind it. Just enjoy and keep doing what you're doing it, as long as you enjoy it, and it's not something you feel you have to do.

You are just too nice and people should appreciate that. If you are spending too much try buying a lot less expensive gifts for people and maybe even try not buying for everyone, just maybe for like kids or those closest to you. That way there's money left over to still buy you something. : ) Or just stick to giving out birthday cards or if that isn't enough for you maybe adding a small gift card inside. Or just try making it special by making a card if you are crafty and personalizing it to the person.

Your mother is right. You've got something that we hardly see these days, and need more of. It's just the fact that you're a giving person, and hopefully you stay that way. But know that you don't need to buy things for everybody to make them happy. Just give them a hug, and listen. Seeing people smile is probably the best gift in the world for you. Don't be afraid to indulge yourself a little every once and a while, though.

It's definitely not wrong to want to buy others gifts. The only thing you have to ask yourself is why am I doing this? is it because you just want to make them feel special? or is it because you want to look a certain way in others eyes?
While there's nothing wrong with buying others gifts on their special day or on special occasions, you do need to keep in mind that as your social circle grows this habit can become very expensive. So while not wrong, you will have to manage your money, time and commitments to what you can handle.
Other than that , my birthday is on June 16th so... LOL ;)
seriously I'll be happy with just a small kiss on the cheek and surprisingly so will most of your friends - thanks :)
P.S.- I Like Mixtapes, especially my favorites from http://www.djemir.com so send them to... JK You better start controlling your spending habits or it will haunt you, especially as your tastes start getting more expensive or your friends start to multiply.

I can be one of two things. One, you have a caring personality. You rather make others happy and support them rather than being selfish and only thinking about yourself. Two, you care too much about others opinions that if you don't buy them a B-Day gift, you would feel as though they would judge you and in turn you would feel bad.

I get that way too. Most of the time I want to (and do) buy things for other people I care about, rather than myself. There's nothing wrong with it- it's very selfless. Just don't forget about yourself.

I used do the same thing -- it isn't wrong but its expensive and if the person won't so the same for you then I would think about that before you do. You can always give them a nice card.

Stop thinking that everyone has to be your friend. Treat yourself because without you, no one else will get their wonderful presents. By the way, I need a new coffee machine, so... Chopchop.
