The insurance is usually lower, but one of the things that you may need to consider is that an old car will need a lot more maintenance...you will end up paying $200-$250 a month for a cheap car, the only question is how much goes to the bank, and how much of that goes to the parts store, or worse yet, the garage, if you are not mechanically inclined.

In the end, all money spent at the parts store is not recoverable...you may be better off buying a cheap, new import. Something like a Hyundai Accent, which has a 10 year guarantee. The rebates can usually cover a down payment, and all you have to do is call the number if it breaks.

That depends on the year, the mileage, the shape it's in and how much it cost you. Your gas will be about the same on any car so there again, how far do you drive in a week? Insurance is usually less as you can get by with PL/PD and in some states the license is less also.
