I went on a 2nd date with this guy but I've known him since the summer. I'm starting to like him. This is our second date and he's asking me questions that make it seem like he's ready for marriage. He is 30, so I guess he is. But do you guys think he is serious. I mean this is only our 2nd date!!

yea dont rush it...and sometimes when people get older they tend to know what they want out of the next relationship...so thats why it probably seem like he is putting out there marriage questions because maybe hes trying to settle down...but if things get serious and your not ready...then your not ready for it...

I started talking marriage with my now-fiance after two weeks of dating. It's not that far fetched that this guy is ready for marriage - however, if it's creeping you out or making you feel uneasy (and it must since you are asking this question) then it's not right for you. He could be needy and have low self esteem and think he can't do any better so he's trying to nail you down quickly. Or, you are really out of his league and he's tremendously happy to have you and doesn't want to risk losing you (I think this is partially true for my fiance). For me it wasn't a turn off, I was/am ready for marriage too (I'm 36 and he's 39) but again, if this is something that you aren't feeling, then back him up a little. When he talks that way, divert the conversation to safer ground, he'll get the picture. IF he doesn't, flat out tell him you think he's moving too fast and please slow down (though you run the risk of turning him completely off, but so be it). Good luck.

He's certainly moving a lot faster than I would think is reasonable. Two dates in is not the time to be thinking about marriage - you don't, at that point, even have any real idea how compatible you are. I would tend to think he's more afraid of ending up alone than actually interested in you, and no one needs to deal with that sort of insecurity.

I would have to say take it slow. It's only the second date and yes all us women here know that guys can be pigs and whisper the sweet nothings just to try and get us in bed. Not all men but there are alot of them out there. If he is talking marrige and kids, it's the futuristic talk. Just take it slow and see where it leads to. I wish the best for you...:)

Hey I asked tons of questions before I agree to go out with a man..I hate wasted time.....he is seeing if you are the one for him...I have a lot of men run for they don't want to answer questions...but then too bad cause if they do not answer them I don't meet them and their loss..not mine....he is being careful..I think that is great and no one marrys unless they are asked and if they want to.........

NO NO NO ! DONT DO IT. ITS ONLY THE SECOND DATE. YOU DONT KNOW EACHOTHER ENOUGH TO DO THE WHOLE MARRAGE THING. TELL HIM THAT YOU NEED TIME TO GET TO KNOW EACHOTHER. DONT RUSH INTO ANYTHING. TAKE YOUR TIME AND HAVE FUN WITH EACHOTHER. YOU MAY FIND OUT DOWN THE ROAD THAT YOU ARE NOT COMPATIBLE. IF YOU DONT WAIT I WILL BET YOU WILL BE DIVORCED IN A YEAR. TAKE YOUR TIME. THERES PLENTY OF TIME FOR MARRAGE. JUST NOT NOW.

Don't count on it--he could be 'baiting you' to gauge your interest in 'setting the trap.' LOL
