I received a scan via email from overseas and can barely read the text on it. Any tips on improving its appearance and readablity using photoshop?

My only suggestion would be to try the "Sharpen More" effect

Well, using tools like curves, sharpen, etc. might either make the text worse or make it easier to read.

I'd advise that the first step is to reduce the size of the image like up to 50%. You'd probably "compress" the image that way and also, this process sharpens the details sometimes. And then you can try other tools or methods like curves, sharpen, etc.

Or if you have an OCR program like Omni Page Pro, etc., then you can try using the program to "read" the text. Not sure about the rate of accuracy but there's no harm trying.

No, that's not dishonest. in case you say that the photographs are unaltered then that's mendacity. in case you overuse it and achieve this unastheticaly that's stupid in case you develop into addicted to it, it waste time and is ineffective My address photoshop is "with moderation". i take advantage of digicam raw conversion and that i maximum superb tilts and attitude and color and that i sharpen and pull out comparison and avert and burn. once later on i visit apply an ingenious rendering on request. maximum heavily, there's a really, very constrained marketplace for for sure photoshopped pictures. there is an excellent smaller marketplace for photograph retouchers. And smallest yet, there is not any marketplace for photographers with a gradual workflow. in case you want what you create as artwork, that's not in any respect dishonest.

You could always go to the place where you bought Photoshop, if they aren't any help, you could go to American Photo.
